FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS.
1. DO YOU PROVIDE MOTORCYCLES RENTALS ?
No. You will need to ride your own bike.

2. DO ALL RIDERS HAVE TO BE LICENSED OR HAVE A PERMIT TO OPERATE MOTORCYCLES ON THESE RIDES?
Yes, because all rides are over paved public roads.

3. DOES ILLINOIS HAVE A HELMIT LAW?
No, but eye protection is required by law.

4. WILL YOU ACCOMPANY OUR RIDE?
Yes, if one or more of our group is available, we would be happy to TAG-ALONG.

5. WHAT ARE YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS ON WEATHER?
We do not recommend riding in the rain. However since we cannot control the weather, we do know the shortest way to Harrisburg if the necessity should come up. See home page for current weather link.

6. CAN WE DEVIATE FROM THE PLANNED RIDE?
Yes, it's your choice.

7. WHY DO ALL RIDES BEGIN AND END IN HARRISBURG?
It was just easier for us to develop the rides from Harrisburg since we all live here. You can start and end anywhere you wish.

8. WHAT DEALERS ARE AVAILABLE SHOULD THERE BE A NEED FOR SERVICE OR PARTS?

H&H Motorsports located in Harrisburg are dealers for: Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha. Cambell's Harley Davidson is located in Marion,IL. Additional Dealers are located in the surrounding cities.

9. WHAT UNUSUAL CAUTIONS SHOULD BE OBSERVED?

During the work week there may be coal and gravel trucks on the Federal, State and some county roads.
In the fall shelled corn, soybeans, and gravel may be present on curves. There are some short sight distance intersections. Farm machinery should be expected during farming seasons. Of couse, deer are always a hazard, especially in the early morning and evening. The worst time for deer is in the fall and early spring.

10. OK, SO WHAT DOES "GMDT" STAND FOR?

We first started this free service as a free tour
service named: "GATEWAY MOTORCYCLE DAY TOURS". Then we got "cold feet" on the liability questions. So now we'll just TAG-ALONG as a friend if you ask us to.
